ECH News

July 2017

Dear Mama Audrey,

Warmest greetings from Myanmar in Jesus’ Name!

I am much grateful to the Lord for this privilege to send you the monthly financial report for July, 2017.

Children food:

The children are provided with nutritious meals three times in a day. They take big breakfast before school and lunch and then big dinner in the evening. Three time meats provided including eggs within a week and vegetables and other beans.

Children education:

All the children go to school everyday from Monday to Friday. This week they are having class tests (exams). Please pray for them this week especially. They take extra classes after school.

They do their home work and study at home according the curriculum of ECH. They are studying hard. Sarah (helper) helps the kids doing their home work and studying in reading to the small kids. We try our best every kid receives a good quality education and gains the skills and knowledge when they are matured.

Children health:

This month the children are all well and in good health. We are so deeply thankful to God for His grace, His protection and His provision in so many ways. God is so good and watches over us. The children are provided with very good vitamins. It’s a big help for the children get strength and healthy. Moreover, they are able to eat and sleep well.

Children Spiritual lives:

Every morning and evening, the children take devotion by singing, praising and praying altogether. Everyone has duty and responsibility to lead the devotion time. We enjoyed Devotion time altogether. It is sweet to see how the kids are growing up in spiritually and physically.

As requested by the principal of Faith Bible Seminary to send his Bible students to ECH to teach the children with Bible teaching and Gospel songs, students came and conducted a short service at ECH on Sunday afternoon. About more than 30 children were participated in this service. It was a great opportunity for reaching the children with the Gospel. They have a wonderful time and it is very encouragement.

So much more joy to me is that we were tremendously blessed through this service and especially I enjoy seeing the children were so happy in worshipping the Lord together and fellowship with the other children.

ECH garden:

We are still keeping the garden well and planting different vegetables to grow to provide most of the vegetables for the ECH kitchen. Every evening the children do the domestic work.

ECH vehicle/Truck:

The vehicle is so useful for transportation the children to and from school as well as to the church on every Sunday. Everyday we pray for getting our kids to school safely and securely.

ECH electricity:

A few days a go we hired the government electricians to make electrical lines fitting for ECH from the street light. We are now waiting for a fitting of meter box by the government electrician. If done completely, this will help us to use things more easily, more lighting, rice cooker, fans and keep the kitchen using from firewood (fire hazards). I have attached the receipts and photos.

ECH rice field:

A hired farmer used the tractor to prepare the rice field for planting rice seeds. They made the river brings the water to flood the paddy-field and form a deep layer of soft mud which has to be levelled all over the field. The rice plants were planted by hand into the prepared fields on the second week of July. I enclosed some of the photos of the workers were planting rice seeds.

Through the supports of Shared Blessings only, ECH has been able to help the needy children in Myanmar to have hope for a better future.

Thank you for everything you do in support of ECH mission to help the children. And please know that, every donation you make go to help these children grow up safe, happy, and healthy.

Your love, prayers and supports keep us lifted up before the Lord and enable us to continue the work steadily. How we praise God for each and every one of you. Our prayers for each of you and your families are that God will bless you all and keep you all always!

May God bless you all richly and the ministries of ”Shared Blessings”!

Dear Shared Blessings Friends,

Sometimes the best way to share the news of our parners in other countries is to share one of their reports with you.  Joel, director of our Emmanuel Children’s Home (ECH) in Myanmar sends us a wonderful report every month.  Besides the financial accounting which we require, he adds photos of their daily life and a written description of events.  Here is a sample of news we recently received from Joel:

Children food:

The children are provided with nutritious meals three times in a day. They take big breakfast before school and lunch and then big dinner in the evening. Three time meats provided including eggs within a week and vegetables and other beans.

Children education:

All the children go to school everyday from Monday to Friday.

As the weather change and rainy season, many children of Kalaymyo get sick with dengue fever and transmitted by the bite of mosquito infected with a dengue virus.

We are seeing patients with viral fever accompanied with dengue-like symptoms high fever, abnormal pain and vomiting.

Recently some of our children were getting sick for a while but we provided medical care to the children as much as we can and they were pill vaccinated for dengue so they all are now doing fine by God’s grace. We also provide them vitamins. It’s a big help for the children get strength and for some get healthy. Moreover, they are able to eat and sleep well.

Mary was getting sick and taking the treatment of doctor and she is now getting back to normal. Joseph slipped on the ground at school and his right hand was injured. He has done X-ray. He was taking the treatment and getting back to normal now. Please find their photos attached!

Children Spiritual lives:

Every morning and evening, the children take devotion by singing, praising and praying altogether. Everyone has duty and responsibility to lead the devotion time. They are taught how important it is to develop a personal relationship with God. Our prayer is to build them up in the knowledge of God’s word and develop with a tender hearts for the Lord.

We enjoyed devotion time altogether. It is sweet to see how the kids are growing up in spiritually and physically. Especially I enjoyed seeing our kids recited Bible verses and presented songs in the church. I am really proud of them.

ECH garden:

The gardening season, which begins rainy season around June, can actually produce some of the tastiest garden vegetables like corn and others. And our fall vegetables can be started from seed plants that perform well as transplants include mustard, peppers, pumpkins, ladyfinger and bean. The garden vegetables these grow to provide most of the vegetables for the ECH kitchen.

We have 3 pigs that the children provide and take care of them. They are growing slowly.

Mission to the unreached:

Recently I went to a small village of Buddhists called SawMyo, Magwe Region to preach the Gospel in unreached area. Magwe region is one of the poorest and most remote provinces.

We had a wonderful time of fellowship altogether in the Lord to pray and seek the Lord together. It was a great opportunity for reaching the people with the Gospel. It is my heartfelt prayer that many more hearts will continue be touched by this service. So we need to pray that the heart of the people changes. I enclosed some photos of my mission trip.

ECH vehicle/Truck:

The vehicle is so useful for transportation the children to and from school as well as to the church on every Sunday. At the present we are getting 6 outside children are willing to accompany along with our children to drop to the school to get some money. Everyday we pray for getting our kids to school safely and securely.

ECH rice field:

We hired out farmers/labours (a close relative of me) again to prepare the rice field for planting rice seeds as it’s normally starting around the beginning of June. But this year the work has been starting a little bit late since there was not much rain. They worked with tractor and started planting rice seeds. They made the river brings the water to flood the paddy-field and form a deep layer of soft mud which has to be levelled all over the field. The seedlings are grown in trays and they will be planted out soon some times next week. I will try to check and see the rice field as soon as I can and will send photos.

ECH Registration

Due to the country’s new constitution, every children’s home will need to register. A government official visited ECH and told them to register as soon as possible.  This must be done in the capital city of Sagaing, a days drive away.  The fee is six million kyats (U.S. $4,490).

(Audrey’s note:  This fee is huge and not within the ability of ECH to pay.  we have promised that Shared Blessings will help with it, for which Joel is very appreciative.)

I am really proud in the Lord for you and all the boards of Shared Blessings for helping us to be able to reach out and care for our children. Every contribution makes a tremendous difference and together we can continue to give the hope of a bright future to these children.

We are so thankful for all the sponsors and donors for their contributions in various ways to help our children have a future.

Through the supports of Shared Blessings, children are being rescued from a life of poverty! Your supports enable us to feed, educate, and raise children in a loving Christian environment at ECH in Myanmar.

Thank you so much for your prayers, love and supports in so many ways. It is always felt and deeply appreciated!

We are praying for all of you. May our gracious Lord bless all who serve in the work of Shared Blessings!

May 2017

Dear Mama Audrey,

Warmest greetings from Myanmar in Jesus’ Name!

Children:

All the children are doing fine by God’s grace. They go to school from today and they are enjoying it. A few weeks ago Jonathan was sick and suffering from breathing problem so we took him to the Wesley Hospital. He has done X-ray. He was taking the treatment and getting back to normal now.

The 2 new children Cherry and Lydia who recently joined ECH are enjoying devotion time, Bible studies, and other activities of ECH. They are happy living together with other children.

Children Spiritual lives:

Bible education is very important for our children at ECH and is part of the curriculum. Every Saturday night, Bible lessons are taught by Sarah our staff and my self.

We also conduct a Bible study and responsive reading to the children so they can be improved in reading skill and spiritual growth.

Every morning and evening, the children take devotion by singing, praising and praying altogether. Our prayer is to build them up in the knowledge of God’s word and develop with a tender hearts for the Lord.

We enjoyed Devotion time altogether. It is sweet to see how the kids love each other and grow up in spiritually and physically.

Children English lessons and School education:

All the children have taken English lessons during this summer vacation and hopefully it will be a big help for them in their studies.

We have been busy for doing the children school admission since last week. The children go to school from today. They do their home work and study according the curriculum of ECH.

ECH garden:

As we have a small garden and planted different vegetables these grow to provide most of the vegetables for the ECH kitchen. Every evening the children do the domestic work and watering the vegetables in the garden.

We have 2 pigs that children provide and take care of them. They are growing slowly and recently we sold 1 pig and purchased 2 small pigs to raise ECH funds.

Mission to the Church:

I was getting a great opportunity for preaching the Gospel to the church congregation on Mother’s day. I preached from the book of proverbs 31:10-31.

It is my heartfelt prayer that many more hearts will continue be touched by this service. I enclosed some photos of my visits.

ECH Vehicle/Truck:

The vehicle is so useful for dropping the children to the school and getting them back to ECH as well as to the church on every Sunday. At the present we are getting 5 outside children are willing to accompany along with our children to drop to the school to get some money. We will get 15,000 kyats ($11) per month from per child.

ECH Electricity:

About four hundred thousands of residents within miles of Kalaymyo city are deprived of electricity since the government of Myanmar insufficient funding for every States. So most people in Kalaymyo have their own solar panel but in rainy season the solar can not supply the light sufficiently and people live sometimes without light. Therefore, we formed the local power supply committee since last year and we campaigned every people living along our street must afford to contribute the money for the electric power supply. With the local public contribution/support the money, the 15 street lights (in front of ECH) has done recently by the government electric department.

In order to have government electricity for ECH we will have to make our own power supply arrangements. It means we will have to purchase electric wires and make the power lines connect 30 fts away from the street light. The present needs for ECH to get the government electric power are electric wires fitting, transformer and meter box.

ECH Registration:

Due to the country of new constitution and other laws and policies every orphanages/ children’s home that has the land, house, and properties owner are requested to make government registration. The first week of May, a man sent to ECH from Social Welfare office and asked me to make the government registration for ECH as soon as possible. And it must be done in Munzua the capital city of Sagaing 1 day to drive a way from Kalaymyo where we live.

The following documents and things mentioned below are needed to apply the government registration for ECH.

1.    A letter of recommendation from local council

2.    A letter of recommendation from District

3.    Photos of the building and children

4.    Names of all the children and ECH board members

5.    A signboard written ECH and location

6.    Kyats 6,000,000 (six million kyats – US$4,490) must be deposited to the government

And other expenses like housing, transportation, food cost will be needed during my stay in Mumzua city.  At present many institutions that protect children in need of care and protection are registered under the Orphanages Act.  All government and non-government organizations working for the welfare of children under 18 years of age will have to complete registration before March 31, said an official with social justice department.

The institutions will be registered under Section 41 of the Juvenile Justice Act.

The move is expected to improve the living conditions at various children’s homes in the district as JJ Act prescribe in detail about the facilities to be provided.

The registration activities can be completed by approaching district child protection officer, said an official with social justice department.

Through the supports of Shared Blessings, the children receive daily meals, shelter, clothes, medical care, as well as educational and spiritual instruction. Thank you to all who serve in the work of SB for your prayer and participation in this labour of love.

Thank you for your supports, for strengthening us, for praying for us, for encouraging us and for constantly lifting us up before the Lord! It means what we are today!

We are praying for all of you. May our gracious Lord bless all who serve in the work of Shared Blessings!

April 2017

Dear Mama Audrey,

Warmest greetings from Myanmar in Jesus’ Name!

I am thankful to the Lord for this privilege to send you the monthly financial report for April, 2017.

Children:

All the children are doing fine by God’s grace. A few weeks ago Eden was sick with fever for 3 days. She was taking the treatment and getting back to normal now. We just added 2 new girls children into ECH and sent their bios and photos.

Children Spiritual lives:

Every morning and evening, we have devotion by singing, praying and teaching the Bible. They enjoy going to church on every Sunday and are developing a heart for God.They are participated in the children activities of the church.

Not only they are developing academically, but they are also developing such tender hearts for the Lord.

It is my earnest desire to make our children a quality life and build them in the knowledge of God’s word.

Children English lessons and Academic:

They have been having English lessons during this summer vacation and they will have to take this class until the end of May. We arranged to have into two classes. Hopefully it will be a big help for them when they are mature.

We also teach our children how to write and read especially who have difficulty in reading and writing. Our goal is to ensure all of our children can read and write in accordance with their grade level.

They are working hard at school and doing so very well. We’re so happy that they all have passed their final exams into the next class.

Fruit trees at ECH:

The different trees we planted in ECH compound are growing so fast and I enclosed a photo of the children showing off mangos grow in the garden. Every evening the children do the domestic work and watering the vegetables in the garden.

Mission to the Buddhists:

I went to a small village of Buddhists which is 2 hours a way to preach the Gospel on the Easter Sunday and everything went very well. We had a wonderful time of fellowship altogether in the Lord to pray and seek the Lord together. It was a blessing to be there and a great opportunity for reaching the people with the Gospel.

It is my heartfelt prayer that many more hearts will continue be touched by this service. I enclosed some photos of my visits.

Plastering the ground in front of the bathroom:

When rainy season the rain make the ground muddy and it is sometimes inconvenient for the children to get to the toilet and the bathroom. So we plastered the ground with cements and small stone.

ECH Vehicle/Truck:

The vehicle is so useful for getting the children to the church on every Sunday. From the month of June it will drop our children to school and get them back to the ECH. We are collecting and making lists how many other neighbour children are willing to accompany along with our children to drop to the school to get some money.

Through the supports of Shared Blessings, the children receive daily meals, shelter, clothes, medical care, as well as educational and spiritual instruction. Thank you to all who serve in the work of SB for your prayer and participation in this labour of love.

I am really proud in the Lord for you and all the boards of Shared Blessings for helping us to be able to reach out and care for our children. Every contribution makes a tremendous difference and together we can continue to give the hope of a bright future to these children.

March 2017

Dear Mama Audrey,

Warmest greetings from Myanmar in Jesus’ Name!

I am thankful to the Lord for this privilege to send you the monthly financial report for March, 2017.

Children:

All the children are doing well by His grace and they have been having English lessons during this summer vacation. We arranged to have two classes. One class is for the small children and another class for the older children. Hopefully it will be a big help for them when they are mature.

After English class in the evening, they play and do the domestic work and also watering the vegetables in the garden. We planted various vegetables like mustard, cabbage, eggplant and beans in the garden.

Children Conference at the church:

The selected children from ECH for the children conference returned home to day from where they participated in Gospel song and Bible recitation competition. The children conference was held on April 1 to 3 in Minhla village 1 hour to drive a way from ECH. Sarah was accompanied with them. They got the first position of Bible recitation and the 2nd of song competition. They had a wonderful time of fellowship together with other children in the church to pray and seek the Lord together. It was a blessing for them to be there and I’m so thankful for the prayers and for the safe journey.

Storm:

There was a heavy rain, strong storm and hailstones fell on March 27 in Kalemyo areas. Trees were uprooted and strewn across the roads. At least 86 houses have been damaged in the city of Kalemyo as city media reported. Many homes suffered damaged roofs. And by God’s grace the roof of ECH kitchen only was damaged. God has protected the house of ECH and that the damages were somewhat to partially destroy the roof. We repaired and fitted the new roof.

We are so thankful for giving the children a happy childhood and a secure future. Through the supports of Shared Blessings, the children receive daily meals, shelter, clothes, medical care, as well as educational and spiritual instruction. Every contribution makes a tremendous difference and together we can continue to give the hope of a bright future to these children.

Thank you for all your sacrificial love, work, giving and supports that help us continue to impact in the lives of our children.

We are praying for all of you. May the Lord bless all who serve in the work of Shared Blessings!

December 2016:

Hi dear Friends of Shared Blessings,

Here is part one of the December 2016 update, which is coming in three  parts–and arriving in January.

Instead of my writing the news of our work at EMMANUEL CHILDREN’S HOME (ECH) in Myanmar (formerly Burma), I would like to share a letter written by Dr. Tony Albertoni, of Oakdale.  Dr. Tony and his assistant, Joy, accompanied Shared Blessings board members, Mike and Marlene Taulier on their most recent trip to ECH in October 2016.  Dr. Tony provided dental care for the 18 children at the orphanage, Joel, his family and staff and as many others in the area he could fit into the two week trip.  Here are Dr. Tony’s impressions:

“Okay, I confess that I am guilty.  Guilty of reading numerous newsletters from the Tauliiers and thinking how nice it is that they are helping support an orphanage in in country called Myanmar (wherever that is, right).  And my thoughts never veered far from the “how nice that they are doing this” thinking.   Then Mike and Marlene invited me to accompany them to Myanmar (I still didn’t know where it was) to provide general dentistry for these orphans, and I accepted–maybe it was a moment of weakness, maybe it was that internal prodding that God does to a heart.  After we arrived, my eyes were opened and I told Mike that everyone should have a chance to see with their own eyes what “we” are supporting.

The orphanage director, Joel, has a Master’s Degree in Divinity and was a  professor in a seminary before he clearly felt God calling him to help his own, the Chin people.  So he left his university position to step into the humble job of taking care of orphans who had no place to go.  At the present, in addition to an assistant and a relative, he has 18 children living at the home along with his sweet wife and their own two kids–he calls all of them “my children”.  Having adopted a child from a Chinese orphanage myself, my view of orphanages was that this was where they kept children until they found a “real home”; however, this orphanage is completely unique and special.  Hands down, these are the best behaved kids I have every seen (yes, even in the dental chair)!  Their ages range from 8 to 17 and they have a deep respect for Joel, whom they all refer to as “Papa”.

Shared Blessings purchased a house for ECH that accomodates all the children comfortably, along with a piece of land to enabe them to grow a portion of the food necessary for the home.  With continued help from Shared Blessings and Joel’s leadership, ECH is on the way to becoming self-sufficient (except for the monthly child sponsorship).

My favorite time was during devotions when the kids would sing at the top of their voices.  During their corporate prayer time, not an eye was open (okay, except mine, watching the kids)!  Not a child was looking around (even Joel’s four year old); they were all intently communing with our God.

The kids each have daily chores to do, and they do them without complaint.  During playtime, the laughter is with each other, never toward a targeted child.  Joel is doing a fantastic job parenting these kids in Godly wisdom, and they are happy, happy, happy kids, being trained with a deep personal faith.  Even if these kids were adoptabe, they would never want to leave because THIS is their loving family.  And I’m sure that it would break Joel’s heart to see them go.

The hardest day for me was the day we left, when all the kids approached and would not leave until every one of them shook our hands and said goodbye with sweet smiles on their faces.  One girl drew us a wonderful picture (which is hanging in my dental office now) that summed up their feelings about Emmanuel Children’s Home:  “We love our Children’s Home.  Thank you for everything.”

This is the type of ministry outreach you are supporting when you give to Shared Blessings and this is the type of ministry I have always hoped my contributions would support.  When I left Emmanuel Children’s Home, a big chunk of my heart stayed behind.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this:  to look after orphans in their distress…James 1:27

Dear Mama Audrey,

Warmest greetings in the Lord’s Name!

I am much grateful to the Lord for this privilege to write you.

We are all well here by God’s grace. He is so good and takes care of all of us! All the children are doing well and happy in the school.

Rice field:

Harvesting was done on the 06th of December, 2016. I went to the rice field myself and checked the harvest. Everything went very well. There were 204 bags of paddy/rice crop altogether produced from the rice field. We took 102 bags of paddy for ECH on the 08th of December since half the harvests have had to be given to the workers. And I have given 10 bags of paddy (first fruit) to the Lord (in the church) for tithe and 92 bags of paddy was remained for ECH.

As harvested rice is subject to milling to remove the husk so we did the paddy drying or sun-banked for 4 days. After drying we brought the paddy bags to a shelling machine which removes the hull. After milling the grand total is 75 white bags of rice produced from the rice field. Praise be His Name!! Truly these are the gifts from the Lord and we do humbly thank Him! The Lord is so good to bring these much of blessings for ECH. We are so thankful for the blessings of the Lord and for all He has done for us. He has done so much it’s really incredible.

Enclosed photos are the harvesting and milling.

Mission to the boarder:

I went to the border areas on the 10th of December between Myanmar and India to preach the Gospel for 3 days and just returned home safely this Tuesday. It was a blessing to be there and I’m so thankful for the safe journey.

My visit to the village was very encouragement. We had a wonderful time. It was a great opportunity for reaching the people with the Gospel. It is my heartfelt prayer that many more hearts will continue be touched by this service.

I have attached the photos of the mission works in the border areas. For more effective service and fruitful works, I always covet and highly value your prayer supports. To God alone be all the glory and honours!

Thank you for everything you do in support of ECH mission to help the children.

Wishing you all “A very Merry Christmas and a Happy prosperous New Year”.

Thank you so much for your prayers, love and supports in so many ways. It is always felt and deeply appreciated!

Blessings to you and all at Shared Blessings.

October 2016:

Dear Mama Audrey,

Warmest greetings from Myanmar in the Lord’s Name!

May the grace of our Lord Jesus be with you and everyone at Shared Blessings.

I am much grateful to the Lord for this privilege to send the monthly financial report for October, 2016.

Children:

We are all well and praising the Lord for His grace and health. The children are happy in the school. They have done their first semester exams and they all did well. They are excited to be back at school tomorrow after a week of vacation. We teach the children the Word of God through daily time for prayer, devotions, and praise songs.

Jonathan was sick for a few days and I took him to the doctor and they did blood text, X-ray and ultrasound. The diagnosis from the doctor was hepatitis. He was taking the treatment and he is now feeling better.

Varnishing the upstairs floor:

We varnished a wooden floor of the upstairs room. It makes the room beautiful and clean and a surface that looks smooth and also prevents the damage to the wood.

Rice Field:

A few days ago I visited the rice field to see how the paddies are growing. It seems harvest time will be most probably at the end of November. Our rice field received sufficient water so hopefully it can produce a good crop of rice. See the photos of rice field I attached.

This is amazing to see what the Lord is working at ECH through the ministries of Shared Blessings.

I have attached children photos and receipts. We are praying for all of you. May our gracious Lord bless all who serve in the work of Shared Blessings!

Children:

All the children are doing well by His grace and happy in the Lord. The school admission has done for all children. They go to school everyday and they are enjoying it.  It has been rainy here and all the children need to take umbrella and raincoat when they go to school.  The children are so very grateful to all the sponsors who provide them with all they could ever need and for giving them a happy childhood and a secure future.  Jonathan was suffering from stomach pain a few days ago and I took him to the doctor and then his doctor has given him treatment. He is doing well now.

We hired out farmers/labours (a close relative of me) to work with tractor and start planting rice seeds. I have enclosed some photos. I will keep updates on the rice farm.  Through the supports of Shared Blessings the children are able to receive good education, nutritious food, proper clothing, safe shelter, and medical aid. We pray and trust our children will become independent and earn their living when they grow up and become fruitful man and woman for God and people.d receive Biblical teaching and Photos and cash receipts attached! Hope you may find them properly.
